Discussions regarding statistical methods
- In 2014, a group of highly respected international researchers assembled at the London Workshop on the Future of Statistics. They discussed, among other things, challenges for the statistical community by "Big Data" and by the "Reproducibility Crisis" (see also bullets below). Their report Statistics and Science presents the results.
- Also in 2014, Nature published a very fundamental criticism of the established scientific method, in particular the use of p-values (Nuzzo 2014). This criticism found broad public attention.
- In 2016, the American Statistician published a statement of the American Statistical Association (ASA) on the controversy following the Nature article.
- In 2019, a special issue (open access) of "The American Statistician" has been dedicated to statistical inference in the 21st century, and among other things critically deals with abuses of p-values.
