Professor of Mechanical Design and Machine Elements
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ina Holfelder is a dedicated educator and researcher specializing in mechanical design and machine elements. Ina Holfelder received her diploma in Mechanical Engineering from Technische Universität Berlin in 2010. She then pursued her doctoral studies at Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB), where she developed a calibratable wavelength dispersive von Hamos spectrometer with HAPG mosaic optics, earning her PhD in Mechanical Engineering.
Her teaching focuses on fundamental machine elements and CAD techniques, emphasizing practical applications and the integration of modern technologies.
Teaching:
- Machine Elements: component design, bearings, couplings, joints etc.
- CAD: 3D modeling, assembly design, technical drawing standards, CAD in product development
- Product development methodology
Prof. Holfelder employs innovative teaching methods, blending theory with hands-on practice through project-based learning and real-world industrial examples. This approach provides students with a comprehensive understanding of machine design and prepares them for industry challenges.
Research Interests:
Ina Holfelder's research focuses on the development of advanced scientific instrumentation, including wavelength dispersive spectrometers for X-ray spectroscopy and metrology chambers for thin film characterization. Her current research interest are novel materials and technologies to enhance the performance and efficiency of machine elements, contributing to advancements in mechanical engineering.
