Das Erlernen der Entwurfsmethodik im Bestand erfolgt im Bachelor über Umbauaufgaben, betreffend Denkmäler oder denkmalwürdige Gebäude, vornehmlich bis zur Vorkriegszeit. Die Studierenden sollen gemeinsam, „als Büro“ alle Herausforderungen der Bestandsaufnahme, der Analyse und der Erstellung von 3D Planungsgrundlagen bewältigen sowie Bestandsmodelle erstellen. Durch die Auseinandersetzung mit dem Bestand erhalten sie die Befähigung, räumliche, funktionale und konstruktive Zusammenhänge zu erkennen und entsprechende architektonische Lösungen anhand eines praxisnahen, selbstständig zu erarbeitenden Architekturprojekts zu entwickeln.
